Maruti’s electric SUV increasing Tata’s tension, will run 500KM in full charge

Maruti YY8 Electric SUV: Maruti Suzuki is finally going to join the race of electric cars. The company will present its first all-electric model at the 2023 Auto Expo to be held in January. Its codename is Maruti YY8. The Maruti YY8 will be produced at Suzuki’s facility in Gujarat. It will also be introduced in the global market along with India. It is being developed in collaboration with Toyota, which may launch a rebadged version of the EV. The SUV can compete with the Tata Nexon EV, which is currently the best-selling electric car in the country.

500KM range in full charge

Two battery pack options of 48 kWh and 59 kWh can be found in the Maruti YY8 electric SUV. In full charge, these battery packs can offer a range of 400 km and 500 km. Power outputs are expected to range from 138 hp to 170 hp. Both two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options will be available in this.

The Maruti YY8 electric SUV will have a longer wheelbase of around 2,700 mm, which will result in a bigger interior and enough space to house the battery pack. It will be more than 4.2 meters long. For comparison, let us tell you that the length of the Creta is 4.3 meters. The price of Maruti YY8 electric SUV is expected to be between Rs 13 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
